Process (Implementation Steps):

1. The children are asked to take their chairs and move to the U seating arrangement.
2. It is said by the practitioner that the purpose of the activity is to contribute to the creation of classroom rules.
3. 2 different color cards prepared by the practitioner in accordance with the number of children are distributed to the children. It is stated that these colored papers are preference cards and that one color represents the correct behavior and the other color represents the wrong behavior.
4. Ask the children to raise the blue cards if the behavior is a rule to be followed in the classroom, and if not, the red cards.
5. Children are helped to focus on the intended point with questions similar to the following.
• What kind of rules should be in our classroom?
• What would happen without these rules?
6. The children take turns giving examples of the rules that should be in our class, and the other children make their choices about this behavior by removing their preference cards. If the chosen rules are too many, a re-evaluation is made with the class and the accepted rules are written by the teacher on the Worksheet-1 and appropriate pictures are pasted or drawn and hung in the classroom after the activity.
7. The process continues with discussion questions asked by the practitioner based on the behaviors and rules that the children said:
• What can we do to keep our classroom clean?
• What are the behaviors that disrupt the classroom order the most?What kind of situation would we face if we talked together without raising our hands in the classroom?
• What kind of class will we have if we collect our toys after playing? Why is that?
• Should we share with each other while playing with our toys in the classroom? Why is that?
8. After sufficient discussion on the questions, the activity ends with the following explanation:
“Dear students, we learned today that there are some rules for creating a safe and comfortable learning environment in the classroom and that we can create these rules as members of the class. As a member of society, we can contribute to the formation of these rules in our lives. Rules allow us to organize our lives, make it easier and protect us. It is therefore very important to follow the rules.”

Note to Practitioner:

1. The choice of color on the preference cards can be left to the teacher’s choice or can be determined by voting with the children.
2. It is important that the rules are collected and kept in a certain number in order to follow the students in the classroom.
3. In the activity, children are asked to state whether the behaviors they have listed are appropriate and the reasons for their preference.
4. Asking the children why the rules they learned might have been set, they exchange ideas with the children about what kind of problems will arise if the rules are not followed.
For students with special needs;

1. Material adaptations can be made by attaching an embossed circular label to red cards and an embossed triangular label to blue cards.
2. The learning process can be differentiated by simplifying the questions and asking them in different ways.
3. During the discussion, a classroom image with scattered toys was shown and asked, “What do you think might have happened in this classroom? What can be done to prevent this from happening?” Such questions can be asked and students’ responsiveness can be increased.

1. After the practitioner greets the children, he asks the children to take their chairs and move to the tables.

3. The following information is shared with children.
“Kids, do you know, on the way to school today, there was a big excavation on the road and I saw a huge construction machine. He was placing giant stone pipes underground. And I saw a truck that was longer than I’ve ever seen. These were the things I saw on my way to school unlike other days. There are also places that never change and that I see every day. For example, when I leave the house, there is a park on my right, in the corner of my house. Walking by the park, I see a bank right across the park. In the morning people come here to do their work. When I go a little further, I see the hospital building. There are apartments across the road. Then I cross the lights. There is a patisserie, a small park and apartments across the road. Finally, our school building is visible. When I go to school from my house, our school building is on my right. On my way to school, I have to move carefully in traffic. On the way home from school, I take the road where the apartments and the bank are. The bakery, hospital and park are across the road.”

4. After the practitioner makes this explanation, the children are shown the drawing in Worksheet 1 describing what they saw.
“Look, this is what I saw along the way. So what do you see on the way to and from school? Now close your eyes and think about what we saw on our way to and from school. Let those who are ready open their eyes so that I can understand who wants to talk, let’s see what’s on your way to and from school?” the question is asked.
5. Children’s shares are taken from those who volunteer. All children’s posts are listened to as much as possible.
6. After all the children have rested, Worksheet 2 and crayons are distributed to the children present at the tables. Children are asked to draw on these papers the places they see on the way to school.
7. After the children have completed their drawings, the activity continues with the following questions.
• Which buildings do you see on your way to school?
• Are there people who pass through areas such as parks on their way to school? Who?
• Do you use the same road to and from school? Is there a difference between what you see when you come and what you see when you leave?
• Does anyone come to school by bus? Where are the places that those who come with the service see from the service window? Do you know their names?
8. The process is concluded with the following instruction.
“Kids, we shared what we saw on the way to and from school today. Some of us come and go the same way. Some of us come and go in different ways. The buildings, parks, workplaces we see on the way make it easier for us to recognize our way to and from school. You can explore the places around you as you come and go.”

1. The activity begins by giving the following instructions to the children:
“Kids, today we are going to take a little tour of the school and explore our school to learn about the departments at our school, the people who work at our school, and what their duties are. I will be your tour guide on this trip, and you will be little explorers. Now line up in pairs and follow me, your tour guide.”
2. Then the children go on a school tour.

3. Children are shown the sections of the school (principal room, assistant principal room, teachers’ room, canteen, gym, psychological counseling service, toilet, cleaning staff room, library, laboratory, etc.) in order, and they are informed about these sections.
4. While the sections are being toured, the school staff introduce themselves to the children and give information about their duties.
5. After the end of the round, it is returned to the classroom. Children gather in front of the board. The following instruction is given by showing the photographs of the school departments and staff:
“Little explorers, you discovered our school with your tour guide. During your exploration, you saw new places and met new people. Now, I want you to tell me the names of the people you see on the board, what they do, where the places you see in the photos are and what is done in those places. 6. After taking the answers from the children by showing the photo of each school personnel and school department and asking the same question, the deficiencies in the answers from the children are completed by the practitioner.
7. The activity is continued by asking the following discussion questions to the children:
• Which of the school departments caught your attention the most?
• Was there a school section that you saw for the first time? If yes, which one?
• What surprised you the most on your school tour?
• What did you learn about your school during your school tour?
• What would happen if the school did not have school staff?
8. The activity is ended by giving the following instruction by the practitioner:

“Children, today we learned about the departments of our school and the duties of the people working in our school. Each staff member in the school has very important duties to maintain the order of our school. When we know the duties of these people and the departments of our school, we also learn where to go and who to go to when we need something, and from whom to get help. Therefore, it is very important for us to know the people working in our school, to know where they work and to know our school.”

Net bir yaş söylemek tabii ki pek mümkün olmaz. Çünkü her çocuğun gelişim süreci aynı değil. Bazı çocuklarımız hemen anlayıp yapabilirken bazı çocuklarımızın ilgisi tamamen farklı bir konudadır ve tam anlayamaz. Ancak bu aktivite 3 yaş ve üzeri çocuklar için uygundur.

Preparation for the Practitioner

1. One day before the study, the children are asked to bring toys.
2. For children who cannot bring toys, they are asked to choose a toy from the toys in the classroom.
3. The visuals in Worksheet-1 are separated and hung separately in the classroom where students can see them.

Process (Implementation Steps):

1. The practitioner enters the activity with the following instruction.
“Hi guys; Last week we talked about our feelings about starting school. Today, we will talk about what we can do about the emotions we experience intensely.”
2. “Can you introduce us your toy that you brought from home?” by the Practitioner. is called and the shares are taken from the children.
3. By Practitioner “Your toy woke up early and came to school with you today. How do you think he feels to be here?” and then the students are asked to go under the image of how they feel the toy.

4. After the students take their places, the following questions are asked in order:
• What do you think causes your toy to feel this emotion?
• What emotions do you feel about starting school? Do you have a similar feeling with the toy?
• When you think about your feeling about starting school, does anyone want to switch places about their feelings? Why is that?
• What can your toys suggest so that they can be happy and cheerful about coming to school?
• What do you think, or whatever we do, make your toys angry/confused,stagnant etc. do they feel?
5. After the students’ shares are received, a suitable option among the suggested ones is carried out together with the students in the classroom. If the suggestions from the students are not suitable for the classroom environment, one of the ways of regulating the emotions given in the Activity Information Note is chosen together with the students and asked about the change in their emotions.
6. After the shares are received, the event ends with the following explanation:
“Dear children, it is very normal for us to experience some emotions in every new situation and it will comfort us to know that everyone experiences them. Starting school is also one of the important changes in our lives and we may feel different emotions at such times. All living things have life cycles; animals give birth to offspring and plants produce seeds. With this simple activity you can do at home, you can find out what your child has learned and not learned about life cycles in the primary school classroom.

A life cycle is the different stages of life for a creature. In science these stages are usually represented by a circular diagram illustrating with words and/or pictures.

What do children learn about life cycles in primary school?

Children learn the following information on the life cycles of various plants and animals.

For example;

Oak tree (plant):
Acorn (seed) — seedling — sapling — oak tree

Frog:
Spawning — tadpole — froglet — frog

Butterfly (insect):
Egg — caterpillar — chrysalis — butterfly

Human (mammal):
Infant — toddler — child — adolescent — adult

How to teach children about life cycles in the classroom?

Children are given the opportunity to observe and document the life cycles of different plants and animals through hands-on activities, research in books or watching video clips on the computer. They can also find answers to the following questions:

• How do fruits and vegetables grow?
  How does a frog lay eggs?
  How do chicks hatch and turn into chickens?
  How do caterpillars turn into butterflies? Like
  With the cycles I will give you now, you will find answers to these questions and have fun with your child or student. In this way, it will be more memorable than the time spent in the regular lesson.
